Talamone

Talamone is a small coastal village in southern Tuscany, in the comune of Orbetello. Near it the Romans destroyed a large Gallic army at the Battle of Telamon in 225 BCE. In the 16th century it was one of the fortresses of the Spanish State of the Presidi, and in 1860 Garibaldi's Thousand stopped there on their way to Sicily.
