Thomas the Apostle

1st century CE · 1st century · Also known as Saint Thomas, Doubting Thomas

Thomas the Apostle was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, remembered in the Gospel of John for doubting the resurrection until he saw Jesus. Tradition holds that he preached in Parthia and India and was martyred near Chennai, and the Saint Thomas Christians of Kerala trace their origin to him. The Acts of Thomas links him with the Indo-Parthian king Gondophares.
