Aksaray

Aksaray is a city in central Anatolia, Turkey, at the foot of the volcano Hasan Dağı, and capital of the province of the same name. Known in Roman times as Archelais, it flourished under the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, which built great caravanserais such as the Sultan Han on the road to Konya. Nearby lie the Ihlara Valley, with its rock-cut churches, and the Bronze Age mound of Acemhöyük.
