Cleombrotus I
Cleombrotus I was an Agiad king of Sparta from 380 to 371 BCE. He led several Spartan expeditions against Thebes in the 370s, and in 371 BCE commanded the army that was defeated at the Battle of Leuctra by the Boeotians under Epaminondas. He was killed in the battle, and his death and the losses among the Spartiates marked the end of Spartan supremacy.
