Dinder River
The Dinder River is a seasonal tributary of the Blue Nile that rises in the Ethiopian highlands west of Lake Tana and joins the Blue Nile in eastern Sudan below Sennar. In 1744 Funj forces defeated an invading army of the Ethiopian emperor Iyasu II on its banks. Much of its lower course now lies within Dinder National Park.
