Gask Ridge

late 1st century · 1st century

The Gask Ridge is a line of Roman forts, fortlets and timber watchtowers along a ridge in Perthshire, Scotland, north of the Earn valley. Built probably in the 70s or 80s CE, during or soon after the campaigns of Agricola, it guarded the road towards the Tay and may be the earliest fortified land frontier of the Roman Empire, older than Hadrian's Wall.
