32–69 · 1st century · Also known as Marcus Salvius Otho

Otho (Marcus Salvius Otho) was Roman emperor for three months in 69 CE, the Year of the Four Emperors. A friend of Nero, he was sent to govern Lusitania in 58 after Nero took his wife Poppaea Sabina, and ruled the province for ten years. He backed Galba's revolt, then had Galba murdered and seized the throne, but killed himself after his army lost to Vitellius at Bedriacum.
