Portici

Portici is a town on the Bay of Naples at the foot of Vesuvius, in Campania, southern Italy. The Bourbon king Charles built a royal palace there from 1738, close to the newly discovered ruins of Herculaneum. The railway from Naples to Portici, opened on 3 October 1839, was the first in Italy.
