Sasanian conquest of Yemen
The Sasanian conquest of Yemen was the campaign of c. 570–578 CE in which a Persian expeditionary force expelled the Aksumite-backed regime from South Arabia. The Persians defeated the Aksumite garrison at Sana'a and installed a Persian governor. Accounts of the Aksumite Empire treat the loss as a severe blow that cut Aksum off from the eastern shore of the Red Sea and its trade revenues.
