Fula
The Fula, also called Fulani, are a widely dispersed people of West and Central Africa, traditionally associated with cattle herding and Islamic scholarship. Fulani reformers led the jihad that created the Sokoto Caliphate, Fula states destroyed the Kaabu Empire at Kansala in 1867, and Fulani forces at Ilorin helped bring down the Oyo Empire. They also figure in the histories of the Mali and Kanem-Bornu Empires.
