Jezreel Valley
The Jezreel Valley is a broad fertile plain in northern Israel, between the hills of Galilee and Samaria, running from Mount Carmel towards the Jordan. The main route from Egypt to Syria crossed it past Megiddo, which made it one of the great battlefields of the ancient Near East, from Thutmose III's victory at Megiddo to the Mongol defeat at Ain Jalut in 1260.
