Muravsky Trail

Also known as Muravsky Way

The Muravsky Trail was the main route used by Crimean Tatar raiders from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century to strike north into Muscovy. Running along the watershed between the Dnieper and Don basins from the Perekop isthmus towards Tula, it avoided major river crossings. Muscovy's fortified lines, from the Great Abatis Line to the Belgorod Line, were built largely to block it.
