Ottoman–Persian Wars
The Ottoman–Persian Wars were the conflicts between the Ottoman Empire and the successive dynasties of Iran, from the Safavids to the Qajars, between 1514 and 1823. Fought over eastern Anatolia, the Caucasus and Mesopotamia, they began with the Ottoman victory at Chaldiran and included repeated struggles for Baghdad and Tabriz. The Treaty of Zuhab (1639) roughly fixed the frontier, and the First Treaty of Erzurum (1823) ended the last war.
